Celebrating Eleven Seasons of Calliope’s Call

David Thomas Mather, baritone

David Thomas Mather, (an elastic singer praised for his “amusing" and "eloquently versatile voice" (Boston Music Intelligencer), baritone David Thomas Mather thrives when performing in a variety of styles, most notably vocal chamber music, Lieder, and art song. An avid early music practitioner and musical theater enthusiast, he experiments with and blends vocal techniques between genres to create compelling performances that connect to audiences of any background.

David has had the immense pleasure of performing with groups such as Emmanuel Music, Calliope's Call, The Boston Camerata, Lowell House Opera, and the Utah Symphony and Grand Teton Music Festival Choruses. Recent solos in concert performances include Orff’s Carmina Burana, BWV 106, and BWV 140. He also works regularly as a section leader and cantor in the greater Boston area, and sings as a member of Carduus. David holds a BM in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Theatre from DePauw University, as well as a Master of Music degree in Historical Performance, Voice and a Graduate Diploma in Chamber Music from the Longy School of Music of Bard College. Julia Scott Carey, piano

Julia Scott Carey, is the Minister of Music at the Central Square Congregational Church in Bridgewater, where she leads the adult and children’s choirs from the keyboard. She is one of the accompanists for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and the Boston Symphony Children’s Choir. She also serves as the accompanist for the Metropolitan Chorale, the Dedham Choral Society, the Boston College University Chorale, and the Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus. Julia teaches musicianship at the Suzuki School in Newton. She is also a founder and core ensemble member of Juventas New Music Ensemble.

As a composer, her orchestral works have been performed by numerous orchestras, including the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops, and have been broadcast on national TV and radio in the U.S. and in Russia. She was the youngest composer ever published by the Theodore Presser Company. She was also chosen to arrange a folk song for Yo-Yo Ma and Lynn Chang to play at Deval Patrick's inaugural ball.

Julia Scott Carey received a master’s degree in composition from the Harvard-New England Conservatory joint degree program, as well as a master’s degree in collaborative piano from Boston University.

Emily Siar, soprano

Emily Siar, D.M.A., is a national award-winning soprano and voice teacher based in Boston, MA. An active performer of opera, early music, art song, chamber music, contemporary music, and cabaret, Emily has performed on the stages of Jordan Hall (Boston), Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Kodak Hall (Rochester), The Huntington Theatre (Boston), the Paramount Theatre (Boston), Club Café (Boston), and the Granada Theatre (Santa Barbara), among others. She has recently been engaged as an artist with Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Baroque, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, Emmanuel Music, Boston Opera Collaborative, and Mass Opera. Emily serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Vocal Pedagogy at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Artist-Teacher of Voice at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. A member of Beyond Artists, a coalition  of artists that donates a portion of their concert fee to organizations they care  about, Emily supports Massachusetts Jobs with Justice and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program. Megan Roth, mezzo soprano

Megan Roth, mezzo-soprano, is celebrated for her "rich character portrayals" and "versatile voice," thriving in a dynamic career that spans opera, oratorio, art song, and chamber music, with repertoire spanning from early to contemporary music. Recently, she captivated audiences as Tisbe in La Cenerentola with Boston Midsummer Opera, earning praise for her "comic menace" and "sufficient trashy glitter." Other notable roles include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Despina in Cosi fan tutte excerpts, and Meg in Little Women. On the concert stage, Megan has been a soloist in works such as Copland's In the Beginning and Handel's Messiah and Dixit Dominus.

As a distinguished chamber musician, she regularly performs with esteemed national ensembles including the GRAMMY®-nominated Skylark Vocal Ensemble and True Concord, Yale Choral Artists, and Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble. Megan is also an accomplished violinist and has a featured violin solo on the 2021 GRAMMY® nominated album It’s a Long Way with the Skylark Vocal Ensemble.

In addition to performing, she is the founder and artistic director of Calliope’s Call, a New England-based art song group that presents innovative programs highlighting both traditional and contemporary composers. Megan enjoys swimming and hiking with her husband Adam and their two totally spoiled Boston Terriers, Bronx and Brooklyn.

Sarah Moyer, soprano

Sarah Moyer, known for her “purity and flawless range” (South Florida Classical Review), soprano Sarah Moyer’s most recent and upcoming work as a concert artist includes performances with Oklahoma Baroque Orchestra, Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, Colorado Bach Ensemble, Boulder Bach Festival, Kantorei, Aspen Chamber Symphony, Bourbon Baroque, Lost Dog New Music Ensemble, Emmanuel Music, and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. She has performed American premieres by Melani and Nørgård, and world premieres by Harbison, Kallembach, Theofanidis, Cohen, and Runestad, among others, and regularly appears with GRAMMY® nominated groups Skylark and Clarion, as well as Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and can be heard as a featured soloist on multiple GRAMMY® nominated albums. Sarah lives in Denver, CO and is an amateur ukulele player, particularly interested in early twentieth century popular music. Christina Wright-Ivanova, piano

Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova, hailed by critics as “a brilliant pianist” (Wiener Zeitung, Vienna) and an “ideal partner” (Huffington Post), is an Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Keene State College. She recently held the Interim Artistic Director position at the Redfern Arts Center and served on faculty as an art song coach for graduate students at New England Conservatory. 

As a chamber musician, she has been heard in over 25 countries throughout North & South America, UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia, as well as on several recording labels. She enjoys frequent performances with orchestral musicians, including members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Kansas City Symphony, and with the Apple Hill, Lydian, and MIVOS Quartets. She regularly adjudicates chamber music and piano festivals nationally and internationally, and has given master classes across the US, Europe, and China. Corey Dalton Hart, tenor

Corey Dalton Hart, tenor, is an active performer of opera, oratorio, and song repertoire as well as an eager chamber musician. With a passion for American song, he is a regular recitalist along the east coast, having premiered new works in both New York City and Boston. Corey has been a featured soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Albany Symphony, the Asheville Symphony, the Bard Baroque Ensemble, and The Orchestra Now. As a chamber musician, Corey performs with Blue Heron, Zenith Ensemble, the Handel and Haydn Society, Skylark, the Boston Camerata, Seven Times Salt, Boston Baroque, Renaissance Men, The Ashmont Bach Project, and the choir at the Church of the Advent. He was also named an American Scholar of VOCES8, one of the world’s most versatile vocal ensembles. Corey holds degrees from Furman University and Bard College as well as a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from NEC where his research focused on the partsongs of English Renaissance lutenist, John Dowland. When Corey isn’t singing, you might find him in search of the best Indian food in town, dominating (or not) a local trivia game, or making informal music with his not-twin but look-alike brother.
